American Girl 10th Historical Doll Meet Rebecca Rubin

Rebecca Rubin, a 9 year old Jewish American girl, from the 1914 era living in lower east side, NYC, whose maternal grandparents and parents immigrated from Russia. Rebecca’s struggles to find her niche and balance the worlds of tradition and modernity. Rebecca is fascinated by the budding film industry and aspires to become an acress, but her family of Russia immigrants disapprove of acting and movies. Jacqueline Dembar Greene, author of Rebecca Rubin six book series focuses on issues related to assimilation and accomodation to mainstream American culture while incorporating familar, religious, and cultural traditions and beliefs.
Originally, as per Megan Boswell, director of design and development, American Girl, Rebecca's hair color was debated for years. Rebecca's hair started out being dark auburn, then went to dark brown. Then the company worried dark brown would be too typical and predictable. In the end, after many discussions weighing out the advantages of both approaches. The company created what they felt was an optimum combination and gave her a new mid-tone brown hair color with russet highlights and hazel eyes. Rebecca, who comes with a line of culturally authentic clothes and accessories such as a menorah, a driedel, Shabbat candlesticks and challah. The Rebecca doll features the Josefina face mold, medium brown curly hair, and hazel eyes.

Best Friends Gwen and Sonali
The American Girl of 2009 is a newbie at school, lives in an extended-family household, and loves to swim and work on crafts. And she's learning to stand up to a bully. She'll also be the first contemporary American Girl character brought to life in a movie, which previously were centered on girls from other eras. "Chrissa" is the latest creation of the Mattel-owned American Girl brand that includes dolls, mega stores with restaurants and theaters, books and a monthly magazine. The company offers a new Girl of the Year each January since 2001.
While the movies have covered such eras as the Great Depression and Colonial times, the annual dolls are always contemporary, created to reflect the often changing interests and lifestyles of tweens. The Chrissa doll has bouncy medium-brown shoulder length hairstyle, blue eyes Josefina face mold and an overall free-spirit look that reflects her creativity. Chrissa is a fourth-grader, has two best friends in the collection named Gwen and Sonali.
Chrissa doll has meduim to dark brown shoulder length hair with highlights, light blue eyes, and tJosefina face mold. Aside from tradition, Chrissa's collection includes two best friend dolls named Gwen and Sonali.
Gwen has long bang, blond hair, brown eyes, freckles and the original classic face mold. She lives at a homeless shelter with her mother called Sunrise house and is very shy.
Sonali has dark eyes, dark skin, dark loosely-curled hair and a brand new face mold which represent her asian Indian heritage. She originally sides with Tara and Jadyn in bullying Chrissa and Gwen but later becomes best friends with Chrissa and Gwen.
